Italicization does not work for news publications

Template:T does not work appropriately for citing news sources, where the newspaper should be in |{{SAFESUBST:#if:work|work=}} and should be italicized (unlike |{{SAFESUBST:#if:publisher|publisher=}}, which is not; see Template:T documentation and discussion over the years at WT:CS1 for more). Currently, the template is only able to pull from Template:Wikidata property link, with no equivalent to work on Wikidata. As use of this scales up, it's crucial that we resolve this issue to make the two projects interoperable. Thoughts? {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 22:22, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

An example usage would probably help us understand. I don't think this template is intended to do what you want to do. You might look at {{Cite Q}}, which has its own problems but which is intended for citing sources using Wikidata information. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:30, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
